GRAND TURK, Turks & Caicos Islands
The capital of this tiny chain of islands, Grand Turk is
reminiscent of what is referred to as the "Old Caribbean",
where life is so very laid back, that schedules and directions
are rarely even heard of. It's considered a top destination for
diving and snorkeling, and has some of the most beautiful
beaches in the world. You can definitely step back in time
on this island, and see where these islands had their
beginnings. But if history or snorkeling is not your thing, then
the best thing you can do in the Turks & Caicos is just rest your
cares away by the turquoise waters.... aahhhh.
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands
St. Thomas is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Here you
can find beautiful mountains and hills dotted with homes
and gorgeous foilage. You can take a day trip into St. John
and visit the famous Trunk Bay. You can snorkel or sunbathe
at Coki Beach or Magen's Bay -- two of the prettiest and
serene beaches in St. Thomas. But one of the biggest draws
to St. Thomas has to be the shopping. Here is where you can
purchase all of your gold and precious gems for a fraction of
what you'll pay in the U.S. Downtown Charlotte Amalie has
tons of stores and bargains for your shopping pleasure, and is
only a short cab ride away from the Pier.
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico
One of the oldest islands in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico
(spanish for "Rich Port") is a U.S. territory rich in history, culture
and beauty. The people are as flavorful and colorful as the
food and the music. You can visit El Morro, which is a 16th
century fort that once protected San Juan's port. It still
stands today and is a famous symbol of Puerto Rico. Since
you will be arriving in the evening hours, you can enjoy some
Bacardi (Puerto Rican rum) on the cobblestoned streets of
Old San Juan and take in some people watching and
shopping. Or you can see the Bacardi factory for yourself,
which offers a night tour. Puerto Rico is definitely one of the
"best" of the Caribbean.
NASSAU, Bahamas
Nassau, the largest of the Bahamas island chain, is a center
of tourism, sights, sounds and fun. There is an endless amount
of things to do here. One of the top tourist destinations in the
Caribbean, Nassau is home to the famous Atlantis Resort, a
multi-million dollar masterpiece located on Paradise Island.
Atlantis is a destination all on its own, and here you will find
the famous exhibit, "The Dig", which is an indoor aquarium
built to resemble the "Lost City of Atlantis". Aside from Atlantis,
there is the Straw Market, Stingray City, Cable Beach,
snorkeling, shopping, and.... well, the list goes on.
